Our Family’s Jeep Adventure Bucket List

It’s no secret that our family is highly passionate about Jeeps. As Jeep owners since 1998, we love the vehicles, the lifestyle, and the community. We also tend to dream about the adventures we could take with our trusty Jeep. Mountains, beaches, you name it - we want to visit it! We’ve noticed that other Jeep owners also tend to create Jeep adventure bucket lists like us, filled with destinations they’ve never been, nostalgic spots, or trails they’re itching to conquer. We love hearing about these lists, so we’re sharing our family’s Jeep adventure bucket list in hopes that it can inspire you for your next big adventure!

1. Conquer the Rubicon Trail – California

The Rubicon Trail is considered by some to be the ultimate off-road challenge. The terrain is rugged and the scenery is incredible, it tests both driver skill and vehicle ability. The trail demands careful planning and respect for nature, making it an extremely memorable bucket list item.

2. Drive the Blue Ridge Parkway – North Carolina & Virginia

This scenic adventure has been on our Jeep adventure bucket list for a while. We’ve heard incredible things about the sweeping views, hidden trails, and jaw-dropping overlooks. Our family would love to visit during the fall to experience the crisp mountain air and stunning leaves.

3. Jeep Through the Great Smoky Mountains – Tennessee & North Carolina

The Smoky Mountains offer countless off-road trails that range from beginner-friendly to quite challenging, making them a perfect family destination. This particular adventure is known for incredible waterfalls and plenty of wildlife sightings!

4. Drive Historic Route 66

For an adventure that isn’t about the destination but the open road itself, we’d love to drive Route 66 from Illinois to California, taking in all of the quirky roadside attractions, famous restaurants, and endless photo ops we can find. A classic road trip like this is sure to create memories that last a lifetime.

5. Tackle the Alpine Loop – Colorado

The Alpine Loop is a mostly unpaved 63-mile route in the San Juan mountains. Traveling mostly via rough and rocky old mining roads means that an off-road vehicle is required to make this full-day trek. The route is filled with breathtaking views, high-altitude roads, and an incredible contrast between barely-touched terrain and well-preserved historic mining towns.

6. Beach Jeeping at Cape Cod – Massachusetts

Certain areas at Cape Cod beaches allow off-roading, making it the perfect destination for enjoying a mix of relaxing on the beach and Jeep adventuring. It’s an easy way to spend a day by the water while still getting behind the wheel - there's something for the whole family to enjoy!

7. Jeep Camping in the Adirondacks – New York

The Adirondacks are known for their pristine lakes, vast wilderness, and incredible mountains. Taking the trip in a Jeep means you can set up camp in remote spots and discover incredible forest roads and hidden lakes that you might not get to see otherwise.

8. Take on the Oregon Backcountry

Oregon offers a variety of Jeep-friendly trails that include forests, volcanic landscapes, and coastlines. With so many diverse terrains in one area, you’ll never get tired behind the wheel! From challenging climbs to scenic coastal routes, there’s a trail for every kind of Jeep explorer.

9. Pacific Coast Highway Adventure - California

We’ve heard this drive referred to as one of the most iconic drives in the US. You and your crew can start the drive in Northern California, explore Big Sur, and finally, traverse Santa Barbara and Malibu. This adventure offers an ideal blend of tourist locations and remote areas - something for everyone!

10. Fall Foliage Drive - New England

New England is filled with scenic roads, quaint towns, and winding mountain passes, and in fall, it’s all covered in incredible shades of red, orange, and gold. Traveling by Jeep means it’s easy to explore hidden backroads, pull over for perfect views, and soak in the crisp autumn air.

This list is our way of making sure our family experiences all of the Jeep adventures we’ve been dreaming about - ranging from tackling trails to scenic highways to beach days. We hope our list inspires you to dream up your own adventures or add a few new stops to your map. Along the way, we’ve found that the best part of owning a Jeep isn’t where it can take us (although we love that part!), but the memories it lets us make along the way.
